Annual Jeff Lucas Veterans Memorial Stadium Cleanup

May 29, 2017 ~ 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Join the community May 29, 2017 at 9am on the Corbett School Campus for a morning of general light maintenance and cleaning of the Jeff Lucas Memorial Stadium and sports fields.

Bring your gloves, rakes, wheelbarrows, and general yard/landscape tools. No experience needed. Bring the entire family!

The CEF Board of Directors would like to thank everyone who participated in making our Family Fun Bingo Night a success.  We exceeded our fundraising goal for the evening and raised  over $4,000 – enough to fund eight scholarships!

There was a wide variety of prizes available and plenty of food for the 125 attendees thanks to the generosity of our 69 donors who provided goods, services, and funds.  The evening was a lot for fun for everyone and plans are underway for next year’s  event.  Be sure to join us next year!

Thank You Donors!

How To Help

The Corbett Education Foundation is looking to expand our board of directors and increase our team of volunteers.

We are looking for individuals who are interested in either serving on our board or lending a hand to fulfill a specific need.  If you’d like to learn more about who we are or are curious about upcoming activities and projects we’re planning, please let us know.  We can be reached at any of the email addresses shown under the “About” button above.

If you prefer, you may telephone us at 503-261-4252 and leave a message with your name, telephone number, and the best day and time to call you.  As we are an all-volunteer organization, the office is not staffed on a daily basis, but we do have an answering machine that will collect messages and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

Better yet, if you’d like to visit with us face-to-face, we usually meet each Monday evening between 5:30 and 8:00 pm to complete ongoing tasks and you are welcome to come see us.  Just be sure to contact us ahead of time so that we can meet you at the door or gate.  There are many, many ways you can help the Corbett Education Foundation in its continued support of our students, so don’t hesitate to come check us out.

Scholarship Connections

The scholarship program at Corbett Education Foundation provides assistance to students seeking to continue their education beyond high school.  Starting with just one scholarship award in 2000 and progressing to forty-four scholarships in 2015, the core of this program is our dedicated and selfless donors.  Some of these individuals, families, businesses, and organizations fund their scholarship year after year.  These friends and neighbors provide money to enable a young person they don’t even know to continue his/her education.  Since students are eligible to renew their requests, these donors might be providing support to the same young person for up to six years and then move on to support another student after that.

We are extremely grateful for our family of donors and we intend to introduce you to these remarkable people.  We hope you have an opportunity to join us in thanking these extremely generous and caring folks.

It is our great privilege to proudly introduce you to Dona and Bob Layton.

Thank you, Bob and Dona

Each year the Doug Layton Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Corbett graduate or past graduate.  Dona and Bob generously make this scholarship available as a tribute to their son who was a past Corbett student.  Residents of the community as a married couple for 60 years, Dona and Bob have been familiar faces in our area for a long time and both are Corbett High School alumni.

Dona Layton, volunteer and donor.

Dona was known to many students while working for the Corbett School District in the school and superintendent’s offices for 30 years, retiring in 1995.  Prior to retirement, Bob was often seen driving dump truck or heavy equipment in our community as a member of the Multnomah County Road Department for over 34 years.  Besides being dedicated scholarship donors, both Dona and Bob are tireless volunteers.  Dona has been a CEF board member since the organization’s inception and currently holds the position of secretary.

Bob has been a member of Multnomah County Rural Fire Protection District No. 14 for over 57 years and served as chief for 4 years.  Thank you, Dona and Bob! Your many, many contributions to our community and the CEF scholarship program are greatly appreciated!

Ambassadors’ Corner

Our foundation relies on students to encourage their peers to complete the CE.F. scholarship application.

These student volunteers, whom we call our STUDENT AMBASSADORS are assisted by a parent volunteer (Parent Ambassador) who can gently guide them when and if needed to ensure that all seniors learn about the importance of continued education and training whether it is in the form or traditional college/university, trade school, technical or specialized training or military service which now nearly always includes technical training.

The CEF board is in the process of selecting a new student ambassador for the upcoming school year. Please be sure to check back and meet our new ambassador. We’re looking forward to introducing another amazing student to you.
