The Corbett Education Foundation would like to congratulate each and every member of the Corbett High School Class
of 2016. Job well done! We wish you all the best in your future endeavors as you begin the next phase of your life’s journey.
Scholarship Update

This year, however, the matching process has been more difficult and precarious due to the volume of applications received and dwindling financial resources. Board members are working to expand our donor base in order to ease this shortfall. If you, or anyone you know, are interested in providing assistance to our graduates, please let us know as soon as possible.
Bob and Dona Layton
It is our great privilege to proudly introduce you to Dona and Bob Layton.

Each year the Doug Layton Memorial Scholarship is awarded to a Corbett graduate or past graduate. Dona and Bob generously make this scholarship available as a tribute to their son who was a past Corbett student. Residents of the community as a married couple for 60 years, Dona and Bob have been familiar faces in our area for a long time and both are Corbett High School alumni.

Dona was known to many students while working for the Corbett School District in the school and superintendent’s offices for 30 years, retiring in 1995. Prior to retirement, Bob was often seen driving dump truck or heavy equipment in our community as a member of the Multnomah County Road Department for over 34 years. Besides being dedicated scholarship donors, both Dona and Bob are tireless volunteers. Dona has been a CEF board member since the organization’s inception and currently holds the position of secretary.

Bob has been a member of Multnomah County Rural Fire Protection District No. 14 for over 57 years and served as chief for 4 years. Thank you, Dona and Bob! Your many, many contributions to our community and the CEF scholarship program are greatly appreciated!
Recent News
We are currently entering one of the busiest portions of our activity calendar – the awarding of scholarships. While students are submitting applications to request a scholarship, donors are dipping into their pockets to provide funds, and CEF board members are ferreting out ways to bring both of these pieces together. The announcement of graduating seniors who will receive a CEF scholarship will be shared at the upcoming graduation ceremony. Past graduates receiving a scholarship will get confirmation of their award via letter during the month of June.
Both student groups will have acceptance requirements that must be met by September 1st so that checks can be mailed to the appropriate colleges and universities as school sessions resume in late September. Donors, Students, Parents, and Friends, be sure to check this website frequently to stay on top of our activities.
Donor Connections
We could not issue three to four dozen scholarships to students each year if your generous friends and neighbors didn’t tighten their belts and provide these scholarships year after year. Take a minute and imagine what it takes to provide money to enable a young person you don’t even know to continue his/her education or training. Now imagine the commitment required to continue to renew their scholarships obligation for that student for up to six years (and then go on to support another student).
We intend to introduce you to these remarkable people – one at a time. This week we honor the owner of the scholarship.
